Guilty confession

Okay, after Ava got settled in the daycare for the afternoon, I snuck out to get a pedicure with June and Mary. Sebastian was at school and I had two hours to myself. I felt a little guilty but I'm living on borrowed times and I cherish the few hours I have to myself this week before I head back to the workforce.

Hmmmm...it's so hard to decide what nail color.

Girl's outing.

You can run but you can't hide....

Uh oh Mommy...we've been discovered!

Okay, Mommy said I could have a manicure one of these days.

Ava's Daycare Experience

I completely forgot to take pictures of Ava on her first day of daycare. I was too busy making sure her transition went as smoothly as possible. She is starting this week part time in the afternoons to get acclamated. She did fine the first day because she didn't realize I had left the room and there were no tears at all. When I come to get her, her legs go crazy and she starts kicking like crazy. Then she starts to cry these big crocodile tears until she is in my arms. Then she breaks out in a huge smile. I told the caretakers that I was starting to get a complex everytime she sees me because she cries. They keep reminding me that they are tears of joy :-)

Today, I remembered to take pictures of Ava before I left the room and then picutes of when we came to get her. She has noticed in the past two days when I'm heading for the door and she starts to wail. Next week is going to be a culture shock when she gets dropped off on the way to work!

Hey look, there's tons of toys here.

Hey....where is Mommy going?

Don't leave me here!

Okay, you promise it will be only a few hours? (sniff)

Ava practicing her crawl instead of napping.

Hey....I know you! Your'e the other loud person in our house.

Yeah, yeah, I'll let you hold me.

MOMMY!!

The Superstar Look

Okay, I think every parent has staged their child's poses at one time or another. Ava is going to wonder why Mom put her through torture like this. Hey, there will be come a day when she will pay me back ;-) In the meantime, I like to amuse myself.

One cool chick!

Don't recognize me? Wait a minute...let me take off my shades.

Now do you know who I am??

Highchair Entertainment

Ava is really coming into her own. There is no one who can make her laugh like her Daddy. Sebastian comes second and I am just the bottle feeder and diaper changer ;-) You would think she enjoys being in her highchair but she doesn't. We have to do everything we can to keep her in there for 15 minutes. Especially at the end of the day when it is getting close to bedtime, she has very little to zero tolerance. But this evening, she was entertained by Daddy.

Scrapbook Material

Sebastian and Elizabeth were using the giant stamp pads I bought for Ava's footprints and handprints. I have a lot of pictures and memorabilias to put in Ava's scrapbook. She's already seven months old! We also made the footprints and handprints for her scrapbook. Now to organize the pictures and print them!

I can't believe I have only one week left with Ava. Sebastian will be starting first grade on Tuesday and Ava will be starting part time at the daycare. This will be an interesting week for all of us. I will keep you posted with pics on our first week.

Our little cookie monster

Attached is a video clip of Ava eating her biter cookie. At seven months, she has finally figured out how to use her hands and her four pearly whites (chompers). The video is a little lengthy and the audio doesn't match up with the movie clip. Hey, this is my first attempt and I'm just glad I got the video on here ;-)

The cookie experience

Ava has finally figured out how to hold a biter cookie in her hand. It also helps that she has four teeth to chomp down on. She's getting a lot of practice with her new pearly whites. She gives us this toothy little grin and it is absolutely priceless.

Ava's Next Steps

Ava is soo close to crawling. She can get up on all fours, push herself up on her knees and almost do a headstand. Her favorite though is rolling from side to side and sit up to see where she rolled to. She will also rock back and forth and she can crawl backwards like a pro. Here are some funny pics of her crawling methods. It makes me crack up.

Clean Fun

She may not like the swimming pool but bathtime is the highlight of the day.

Ava visits Daddy at work

Ava had a big day at Daddy's office! We arrived around 11 a.m. and didn't leave the office until 3 p.m. I can't believe Mommy chatted with so many people. Everytime we tried to leave, Mommy would sit down in someone's cubicle and sit awhile. Ava took a mini cat nap and then decided we needed to leave to take a real nap!

Ava's mid morning nap. She couldn't wait for Mommy to get dressed and decided the floor was good enough.

Okay Mommy, I'm ready to go!

Hey, I like this lady :-)

I could get use to all this attention.

Daddy taking a break from his lunch to give Ava her lunch ;-)

Ava trying on a bright orange colored surgical cap. Oh the humility!

Favorite food

By far, yogurt is her favorite. I can't feed it to her fast enough. I also found out today that she is ready for those baby finger foods. Her friend was snacking on these rice puffs that had sweet potato flavoring. They melt fast in the mouth. I remember feeding Sebastian these when he was a baby but forgot what age he was ready. I've been afraid to put anything solid in her mouth because of choking. Lilah's Mom told me that once she got a taste of table food, she never went back to jar food. Ava's not ready for that yet and neither am I ;-)

Oh yeah, today was the first day I could feed her in her highchair. Usually she slumps and slides down but when she saw the yogurt coming, she sat right up and shrieked!

Ava's first guest

Sebastian really had the playdate with his friend today and the friend had a baby sister that also came to visit. Lilah is one years old and five pounds heavier. Ava just took the abuse from the older kid ;-)

Sunday Dinner

I put Ava in her Bumbo seat because she cannot sit up in the high chair yet. She sat at the head of the table while we enjoyed Sunday dinner with family and Sebastian's guest. By the way, Ava only lasts in the Bumbo seat for about 10 minutes or until she's done with her bottle and then she wants OUT.

Family Outing

We went swimming this weekend and Sebastian caught a butterfly. Ava didin't like the cold water so we just bundled her up and kept her on the blanket.
