Look Who's Talking...

...okay, not really. But if Ava could talk, this is what she would probably say. I created a small Easter Scenario using my two children as the stars. Click on each picture below to enlarge the slides. You may have to manually click on each numbered page to view all the slides. I don't know how it will appear on the screen.

Pre-Easter Festivities

We took Sebastian and Ava to an Easter Egg Hunt at the local library. They had it indoors and there wasn't really enough space in the library for the number of children that showed up. But you can't complain about free candy I guess. This will be Ava's first Easter with us. Michael did remind me that it really wasn't her first Easter, that she was four months old last April 2007 (Easter came early in 2008). We reflected back and couldn't believe that we found out about Ava four weeks prior to Easter and were hoping to travel within a few weeks to get her. Little did we know we would have to wait four agonizing months before getting our travel date! It's funny how certain events will create these "milestones" in your life and makes you think about them when you least expect it.

I don't know if you can tell who the character is on Ava's shirt but Michael calls this Ava's "self-portrait" shirt. If you are a parent of a child of any age, you'll know instantly who it is! Ava's recent haircut has made her character come to life ;-)

Laundry

This is what comes out of the washing machine every time I forget to empty Sebastian's pants pockets. My dryer sounds like one of those rock tumblers. If you look at the picture below, I think my dryer IS a rock tumbler (literally)! I don't always hear it because of the location of the laundry room in our house. One time Sebastian had eight crayons in his pockets and the melted crayons turned my dryer into a tie dye art deco. It finally melted all off but I was afraid my laundry was ruined.

Frisbee Action

Sebastian was tossing the frisbee with Daddy and Uncle Mike. Here are some action shots and of course, Ava was the spectator.

Mental Block

I couldn't come up with a title for this post. Here's a rare glimpse of the family "photographer" in front of the camera instead of behind the camera. Sebastian actually took the photo. It's not often he gets our full head in the picture. Usually the top of our heads are chopped off. But considering his angle, it's perfectly understandable.

Ava in her first patent leather shoes. Although you can't really tell they are patent leather because I couldn't get a close shot. It's hard to focus on a moving target ;-) Now that Ava's feet are getting bigger, the variety of shoe styles are getting better. We don't have to put her in sneakers all the time.

If Ava could talk....

I saw this funny tshirt on someone's blog page and I thought of Ava. She still hasn't spoken her first word yet, even though she's only 14 months old. I think Sebastian had two words at 14 mths, "cat" and "hi". Anyway, I saw this shirt and I would get it for Ava except by the time I ordered the shirt and by the time it arrived, that's probably when Ava will say something ;-) So I'm basically just humoring myself.

Ava's Hair Stylist

I haven't had the nerve to bring Ava to the hairdresser yet. Whenever her hairs starts growing over her eyes, I trim the bangs because she won't wear headbands and clips don't stay in her super fine hair. We have a few years to go before I can do anything with her hair. So for right now, I'm her hair Stylist!

How do I look?

Mom Mom is entertained

Mom Mom discovered one evening that Ava could dance. Since she is full of discoveries, we sometimes forget to fill in the minor details until the opportunity presents itself.

The curse of an older sibling

Oh I know I'm going to pay dearly for this but it was one of those moments that seemed harmless and funny at the time. I guess I'm not a very good role model, maybe even an "instigator". But this is our family entertainment most evenings! I really do love my children ;-)

All in a Day

Here are the two faces of Ava when she comes home every evening. She usually has 30 minutes of play time after dinner and then she lets me know when she's ready to go to bed. You can't miss the signs!

HAPPY Ava!

TIRED Ava! (even Daddy can't help)

Big Brother's Creation

Not only is Sebastian artistic and creative, but he's comical as well. Or is he mimicking what Mommy says all the time? Look at the word that is coming out of the mouth in the pictures below.

Our other child

Marley thinks he can fit inside a chinese carry out bag. I don't think he realizes he's outgrown his favorite hiding spot. But that doesn't stop him from trying and being curious.

The Phone Monster

We were waiting for Daddy to come home from work. Daddy usually gives us a courtesy call on his cell when he's on his way home. I thought it would be nice for Daddy to talk with Ava on the telephone. Ava has never heard a voice come from the other end of the phone, much the less even been ON the telephone. Michael started calling Ava's name and she was upset because she could hear Daddy's voice, turned around to look for him but couldn't understand where the voice was coming from. I think she thought the phone ate Daddy!

Stairclimbing, the newest sport

We had some friends come over for dinner two weekends ago and that's when we discovered that Ava likes to climb the stairs. In fact, Sebastian and Mary (our two yr old guest-see Princesstrainer blog site on the right) were playing upstairs and she wanted to see what was going on. I guess now is a good time to invest in some baby barriers or gates.

Mom Mom's newest discovery of Ava

This was taken about two weeks ago when my parents came over for dinner. Mom Mom discovered Ava's dance moves and was tickled pink. Sorry Mom Mom, we didn't realize you didn't know. She's learning so much these days, it's hard to keep up sometimes!

Ava's newest discovery

Remember a few postings ago Ava showed you where her head and ears were but she didn't know where her mouth was? Well it didn't take her long. She has found a new function for her tongue. Since Ava has moved to the toddler room in the daycare, it seems like she's taken a whole new personality. She's also picking up on a lot of new discoveries as well. Of course I'm finding about her new discoveries during dinners because that's the only time in the day that we get to spend together.

There's no turning back!

I did a baaad thing...I introduced Ava to a famous purple figure and she liked it! It was just a fluke thing and I didn't think she would pay attention, but she did! Oh no...what have I done??? Next you know, she'll be dancing with the four guys that wear bright colored yellow, red, blue and purple shirts and a dog named Wags. For you parents out there, you know who I mean!!
