Out of the mouth of babes

My dearly beloved laptop is on the fritz! I've heard and read about other people's hard drives crashing, burning out, etc. but I never thought it would happen to me! This past weekend my mac notebook died! I don't know how many pictures I've lost until the back up hard drive Michael ordered arrives later this week. Thankfully, I backed up my pictures last December?? So hopefully I only lost one or two months worth of pictures. Of course that could mean 500 - 1000 pictures may have been lost. On another note, June, Bruce and Mary came over for dinner last night. I have pictures of the kids on my digital camera but I can't post any pictures right now! I'm using an interim computer to access my blog (Thankfully).

June brought over a Chocolate Lava Cake box mix for dessert. It was a hit with Sebastian. We had Lava cake, cookies and ice cream. This morning when Michael and Sebastian were doing their morning routine before school, Sebastian told his Daddy that he couldn't believe how delicious the Lava cake was last night and he could still taste the cake in his mouth. He didn't know Mommy knew how to make Lava cake and last night was his favorite. I don't know if he meant last night was his favorite night because he had so much fun with Mary visiting or if the Lava cake was his favorite dessert. I will have to get further clarification after work today. Free Smiley Face Courtesy of www.FreeSmileys.org

p.s. this is a professional display only. The real lava cakes were consumed before I could take a picture.

Fish lips

I was outside doing something and I turned around to see this face staring back at me behind the glass door. Don't ask me why I had my camera outside, but I did. I don't remember frankly.

A few months ago, Ava and I were alone in the house. I think Sebastian and Michael went to their piano lessons. I was vacuuming downstairs and stepped outside to empty the vacuum canister. Ava was standing by the front door and when I turned around to open the front door, I found a little surprise. Ave knew how to turn the latch next to the door handle and LOCKED ME OUT! It took about 25 minutes to get Ava to turn the knob the correct way to unlock the door. I thought for a second I might have to call 911 because it was freezing outside and I was almost panicking. It must have been a sight to see me talking through the glass door at this two year old. Suffice to say, we both survived.

"Mommy, I want to come ooouuutttt!"

Big Brother!

This weekend we were practicing the shoulder ride on big brother. He's not quite there yet but pretty soon we won't need the stroller! We'll have Daddy's shoulders and big brother's shoulders. Ummm....let's just say we still need a LOT of practice. Sebastian's steering isn't all that reliable.

New and improved

This weekend Ava graduated from her "baby" high chair to her "big girl" booster seat. The only difference between the old seat and the new seat is that Ava is no longer strapped in. The booster chair is actually Sebastian's when he was younger.

Another proud moment for Mommy. You have to be a parent to understand I guess.

Childhood Valentine

I was out of the office on Monday and Valentine's day fell on a Saturday this year. When I got to my desk on Tuesday morning, I saw a little box of candy hearts under my computer screen. It was from one of my managers. She has kids and must have brought leftover candy from Valentines. I took a picture of the box of candy next to the dying flower bouquet I received from my hubby last week. The flowers didn't last over the four day weekend so I had to throw out the wilted ones on Tuesday. The girl who sits next to me must have thought I was a little flaky to be taking pictures in the office. She doesn't know I have a blog site ;-) I ended up bringing the candy hearts home for Sebastian but I was kind of tickled because of the nostalgic memories of candied hearts as a child.

My Valentines

The other day I was sitting on the couch after Ava went to bed and Sebastian was upstairs doing an art "project" in his bedroom. We have a open air banister upstairs so you can actually look down into the family room. The next thing I know, these paper hearts are gliding through the air and floating down to the couch. This is what Sebastian made for me ;-)

Ava came home last night from Mom Mom's house and this is what she brought home. Mom Mom gave her a big ole Valentine Bear. I thought it was the funniest thing because the bear was as big as she was. I especially love the shot in the car seat, she looks like she's trapped!

Six more weeks of winter!

I don't know who's looking more forward to Spring, the kids or the parents. Ava got her first big wheel for Christmas and it was too big for her back then and it's still too big for her now. Something tells me she hasn't sprouted too much in the past two months. Even with the seat pushed all the way to the front, the point of her shoes don't even touch the pedals. But she loves rolling down the driveway like a daredevil. That reminds me, I need to go shopping for a bicycle helmet soon!

Cabin Fever

Last weekend I signed Ava and I up for what I call "Mommy and Me" classes. I've been wanting to do a weekend activity like we did for Sebastian when he was toddler. So every Saturday morning, while Daddy and Sebastian are at their piano lessons, Ava and I will be doing our own activity. I remembered we signed Sebastian up for swimming classes and tumbling classes. I think we signed him up too early for the tumbling class because all he wanted to do was run around the gym floor. Since Ava loves music so much, I thought Kindermusic would be the ideal activity for her.

When I took her to her first class, she freaked out because I think she thought I was "dropping" her off and leaving her there. She didn't leave my lap the entire 45 minutes. Kindermusic is designed to help in early developmental skills by having the toddlers sing, dance, play interactively with musical instruments and props (like scarves and pieces of clothe). Child rearing has come a long way since our generation. I noticed that half the class was "Daddy's" and the other half "Mommy's". I thought it was cute to see some of the Daddy's lay and crawl on the floor with their little tots.

This weekend I was home sick so I didn't get to take Ava to Kindermusic class. Michael was going to take Ava to her class for a "Daddy and me" session but we had an emergency home repair to tend to. Hopefully in the next 14 weeks, Ava will get use to the classes and start enjoying herself.

Bookworm

Ava really likes her musical books. I've had the books for quite a while but they needed battery replacements. The books have literally come to life now that there's sound to the stories.
