Ava's first Professional Job

We've been trying for the past two weeks to get Ava to the hair salon for her first professional haircut . I had trimmed her bangs a few months back when she had really short hair. Well as you can see her hair got really long and past her chin. So every time she had a runny nose, her hair and everything else got pasted like glue in front of her face...lovely. We thought it was time to cut her hair and introduce the bangs again. I wanted a little girl haircut instead of the "Dora" look she had a few months ago. So I asked the hairdresser to taper her hair on the sides and trim the back about an inch. It's like looking at a whole new little girl!

Of course when we first walked into the hair salon, she took one look at the ladies in their black overcoats and started to wail. I think she thought she was at the doctor's office. But after she was introduced to two lollipops and her big brother got his haircut first, she sat calmly on my lap. She was even cooperative when the hair stylist sprayed her hair. I know the lollipops were a bad ploy but I reinstate "desperate times call for desperate measures....."

TA-DAAAAAAA!

Lounge lizard

Ava can lay in the oddest positions and in the strangest places. Especially when it comes to bins and baby doll strollers. I don't think she realizes that she's "outgrowing" some of her props.

Look, no hands!

Ava has discovered the pockets in her jeans and overalls. She likes to sometimes walk around with her hands in her pockets which makes an absolute cute photo (I think) ;-)

Old Traditions

Sebastian and Michael were tossing the football with Uncle Curtis. Sebastian got to punt the ball until his Dad decided to pull a Charlie Brown and Lucy football "fake out" trick. It's the scene where Lucy yanks the football the last split second before Charlie Brown kicks the football and he flies through mid air and lands on his back. It happened so fast that I couldn't capture the entire scenario with the camera.

The Turkey Pageant

Ava was crowned Miss Turkey USA but she wasn't too happy about the title. I had the turkey headband from last year but funny thing is, Ava wasn't crazy about it then either! The only way I could "bribe" her to keep it on her head long enough to shoot some pictures is if she had two crackers in her hand. That way she didn't have a free hand! Hey, desparate times call for desparate measures ;-)

The Variety Show

One night we were bored and decided to entertain each other. Sebastian came up with the idea of using styrofoam packaging as a prop and converted it to a t.v. frame. He then "acted out" parts on our commands. His performance was quite impressive. We've always known he had the talent to perform and we were toying with the idea of enrolling him in a local theater in the Spring.

Ava wanted to get into the act and the performances became quite comical. Almost like the Three Stooges act. The giant props just added to the humor. I couldn't resist posting the last picture of Ava. Every time she bent over to get something, her pants would pull down the diaper and she had the "plumber pants" syndrome. Of course I posted the "tame" version because this is a public blogsite ;-)

Once upon a potty

Okay, it's Dec 1st and today was our first day back at work. We were off from work for nine days and I took a small Thanksgiving break from the blog world. I didn't go near any computer during our time off but I did take a LOT of pictures. I have a lot of catching up to do!

We have developed a new routine before bath time every evening. After all the clothes and diaper come off, Ava likes to practice sitting on her potty. I know they have been "practicing" at the daycare lately but I think it's more of a novelty rather than a concept. We are "planning" to go through the Boot Camp Training during Christmas break. We already have the little girl under garments. Talk about anticipation huh?

It's funny, Sebastian wasn't potty trained until he was almost three. It was easy to train him on No. 2 because every time he had to do the "deed", he'd make a disappearing act. With Ava, she doesn't care. She'll be playing with her kitchen set or her toys and then come to us when her diaper is maxed out. There's no early warning! So it will be interesting to find out if she's ready or not.

Meanwhile, here is another "blackmail" moment. I love how her toes curl together ;-)
