Marley and Me (the sequel)

If you haven't read the book about a lovable but mischievous lab puppy, then go out and see the movie.  Sorry, but our lovable tuxedo cat was named Marley long before the book was published and loong before Ava came along.

I have posted about Ava's and Marley's love affair with each other in the past. This morning was just more proof that they are sometimes inseparable.  Both of them think that Marley IS a member of the family.

Although we don't feed Marley table scraps, he is always in the kitchen when we are dining at the table. He's usually next to someone's feet, clawing at the pant legs to get a pet or attention. If that doesn't work, he'll jump on the next available chair.  We constantly remind Ava not to pet Marley at the table, especially when she's eating something sticky (like waffles and syrup)!

I seriously think Ava was trying to direct Marley into the hallway as we were putting our coats on to leave the house. 

Lately, Marley comes into Ava's room after bathtime and plops himself down underneath her bed.  He always seems to know when it's storytime.  He probably has her routine down pact.  I think he has been the reason that Ava has been getting up at 4 or 5 a.m.  He sneaks into her room at night and howls.  I've even caught him pawing at her shut bedroom door because I'm trying to keep him out.  He always manages to wiggle his way in there!
